Demerest "Duke" Buchanan is a fictional character on the soap opera One Life to Live. Though the character was born on-screen on June 29, 1992, he was rapidly aged. The character was last played by Matthew Metzger.

Duke was a product of a night of passion between Kevin Buchanan & LeeAnn Demerest. Their was a custody battle between the two and LeeAnn even claimed Max Holden was the father. Duke & LeeAnn leave for Texas in 1993. Because Kevin didn't raise Duke, Duke felt like his dad didn't really love him which caused some tension between them.
The Return[]
A rapidly aged Duke arrived in 2004 to attend business school. At the time Kevin & Kelly Cramer were fighting over his half-brother Ace. He testified against his father driving a further wedge between the two. When Kevin & Kelly discovered that their son was dead and switched at birth, Duke gave Kevin support. This helped heal the relationship somewhat. During the custody battle, Duke was comforted by Adriana Cramer. Though their families were at odds with one another, they refused to let their families keep them apart. They stayed together even to the dismay of Dorian, Adriana’s mother. Adriana’s growing feelings for Rex Balsom led to their break-up. A devastated Duke turned to drinking to drown his pain. He soon admitted that he’d fallen in love with his former step-mother Kelly. Though she succeeded in convincing that his feelings weren’t real, that all went up in smoke the day Michael McBain & Marcie Walsh got married. After an she had an argument with Kevin, Duke found Kelly a wreck in the rectory of the church. Their pain clouded their judgment and the two made love. When St. James Rectory collapsed, both Duke & Kelly were severely injured. Kevin was forced to choose which one of them would receive a life saving surgery, and he chose Kelly, thinking Duke was strong enough to survive. Unfortunately he wasn’t and Duke died during a surgery. A few weeks after his death, Kelly discovered she was pregnant. Zane Buchanan was born October 31, 2006.
