Introduction & Arrival
On January 20, 2010, Edward Quartermaine arrives home with a letter from his great-granddaughter Maya Ward. In the letter, she tells him that she had written a few before but for some reason they never arrived. Edward acuses his daughter, Tracy of hiding them. Maya has recently lost her step-mother in a car accident and she is left as the guardian of her little sister, Zoe Richardson. Maya is in her last year of medical school and she is looking for a place to do her intership. Edward invites her to live at the mansion.
On March 31, Maya is first seen when she gets into a car accident with Ethan Lovett. The two go there separate ways and Maya finally arrives at the Quartermaine Mansion just as Ethan is leaving. She is greeted by Edward and his daughter-in-law, Monica and then she meets Tracy, who decides that it would be easier if she just wrote Maya a check so she could leave. Later she goes to 24 Royal Street, formerly known as The Ward House, Mary Mae's former residence where she meets Lucky Spencer, Ethan's half-brother and Tracy's step-son. He enlightens her on some of the Quartermaine & Ward history. Edward then takes her to the Haunted Star Casino where she meets her cousin, Skye Quartermaine and then Edward shows her to the hospital. She impresses Dr. Steve Webber who hires her on the spot. She is there when Kristina Davis is brought in after being assaulted again assumes that Ethan was responsible.
